The National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 and has become one of the top ranking law school in India.
NUJS is located in the city of Kolkata, one of the major metropolises of India. Kolkata, the City of Joy is known for its heritage and culture. The city is distinguished by a blend of age-old tradition and modernity . The old Kolkata alongside the growing expanses of modern townships including Salt Lake City and New Town, is where the college is situated.
NUJS has a vibrant student body, not only from all over the country, but also caters to foreign nationals. While the key focus is on academics NUJS is also closely associated with sporting activities and regularly excells in various national level competitions. The students regularly conduct popular competitions- be it music, dance, painting, quizzing, debating creative writing or sports.
The national university also organises tournaments, not just in mainstream sports such as cricket, football-and volleyball, but even the less popular dodge ball, kabaddi and the like. NUJS students also do not neglect their social responsibilities.
The Chief Justice of India is the Chancellor of NUJS and is also the Chairman of the General Council, the supreme policy-making body of the University, Justice (Retd.) Amit Talukdar is the Vice Chancellor of the University.
